Garth was just finishing closing up his shop for the day. It had been a busy day and he was glad to head home. No doubt Gannon was bored as heck. After the disaster this morning where she'd tried to "help" an older lady out the door - the firedrak has headbutted the icekin - Garth had been forced to lock his girl upstairs in her room. Every so often, he could hear the firedrak bang on the floor or squawk out the upper window at customers. Thankfully, they thought it was amusing and Garth could only smile sadly. Every so often, Saraly, his airdrak queen, swooped into the shop and scold him for something Gannon had done or was planning, but Garth simply gave her a pet or a job to do. He'd had no time to go up to see what Gannon had accomplished. Saraly's offspring, Whisper, was more excited about doing errands for Toybox and he thoroughly enjoyed using her as a messenger. Airdraks learned quickly and memorized faces and locations easily. Saraly, being the older, often refused, simply out of not wanting Toybox out of her sight.

Garth ran his arm across his sweaty forehead, then wiped it on his shirt with a sigh. He'd just flipped the 'closed' sign over and leaned against a nearby crate. "Oi, dats was a good day, eh?" he looked over at the whirring mechanical dragonling above him. It tilted his head down and twitched its head and fragile wings, as if responding to him. Toybox had no idea how they were self-aware, but then, he didn't really know what the elemental flux was, really. He enjoyed fiddling with it, however. Mostly because it had worked. Garth chuckled and looked around with a satisfied sigh. "Ah guess its time ta see ol' Gannon." Saraly swooped in and landed on his shoulder, then nibbled an earlobe. He gave her his finger instead and she promptly bit down-hard. "Yeowch!" Toybox jerked and shook the offended finger. Saraly fluttered upwards and chattered at him. "Oi! Wot u do dat fur, ya flying weasel?" Saraly chittered angrily back at him.

"Oh, wat now?" Garth looked up at her. She swooped away, then back. "Got sommat fur meh, eh, girl? Alrighty then, ahm a followin,' ahm a followin.'" Toybox headed after his irate drak, absently checking over the store as he did so. Saraly fluttered into his face again, then shot towards the back corner, where Teron's old bed still was. Now it was used by Gannon when she was allowed into the shop itself. Usually, the firedrak didn't bother the customers. Garth had trained her to not knock stuff over with her wings or tail. He had no clue what had caused Gannon to be so...awkward...today. Garth sighed and batted at an annoyed airdrak again. He headed towards the giant gryphon couch...and heard a loud thump. Toybox frowned and the thump came again. He sped up and Saraly finally stopped scratching at his head. Apparently, she'd known of the whateveritwas for a while and Toybox had been unable to see her in his attempts to deal with his customers. Garth sighed and peered around a couple of large crates…

"A ... stonedrak?" Garth blinked in surprise at seeing the unusually large baby happily batting at one of his mierlatha. The mechanical cat didn't seem to mind, being able to withstand the stumpy paws of the earth hybrid. Saraly chittered at him, acting completely innocent as if she'd not been pulling his hair out earlier. "Wot am ah gunna do wit a stonedrak?"

The airdrak chittered and swooped over the baby, who looked up and fluttered its own stumpy wings with a double-voiced, grunting squawk. Then it caught sight of Garth. One head tilted, and the other promptly stuck its tongue out at him. Toybox chuckled and Saraly imitated him, like she often did. He knelt down at the edge of the pillow and looked up at the airdrak; the queen of his household, as he often called her. She looked back at him, and squeaked, "Keep."

"Weall... ah guess dat answers dat question," Garth chuckled and held out a hand to one of the heads. Both leaned over and sniffed him and one leaned too far and the stonedrak flopped over on his side, looking up at him. "Where'd ja come from, gray one? Ah can't call ya little, now kin I?" Saraly chittered and swooped down to land on one of the baby's heads. He looked over at her with the other head in surprise, then tried to lick her. She squawked in surprise, shot upwards and scolded him. The stonedrak didn't seem to care and gave a grunty chuckle. Garth tickled him under the closer chin and the stonedrak's eyes shuttered closed. He was content to stay and Garth wondered where it had come from.

He stood then, leaving Saraly to draksit and followed the trail of debris the stonedrak had left in his wake. Earthdraks weren't subtle by any means, being too large to fit in many places. Stonedraks were no different. He knew from extensive reading up on draks when he had a piping hot firedrak following him around and burning his bum all the time that stonedraks would grow to be extremely sturdy, but very exuberant. Great, he thought with a tired chuckle, An enthusiastic airdrak the size of an elephant. JUST what I need. The trail ended near the dumpster behind his shop and he poked around, careful to avoid any rats, feral cats, or worse, nimbys. Garth shuddered. The one thing Gannon refused to eat; a dead nimby. He knew why, too. The things stunk to high haven, dead or not.

Garth shook his head, but could find no other trail. He wondered if the poor thing had been feral. Sometimes, draks just escape their previous homes, either through design or accident, and just aren't found again. Neither head had had a collar, but the stonedrak was surprisingly friendly. He chuckled again and went back inside, this time, making sure the back door was closed firmly. The last thing he needed was Saraly to adopt every stray that wandered in.
Finally, got around to introducing Garth, my other icekin. He's had Gannon, Saraly and Whisper from the beginning, but now he's acquired a fourth drak. Is he going to be a drak hoarder or will he manage to keep his shop from becoming a drakkari-owned pawn shop?
