Emerald Preview - done by DragonPud
Build: extremely stocky with relatively short, somewhat stumpy legs. Long neck and an enormous head. Corded muscle flows across the body, especially around the shoulders to compensate for the four wings
Pelt: always varying shades of green, hence their name. Pattern follows avians of any kind. Soft, downy feathers coat their body, looking much like fur along the feet, belly around the eyes
Head: extremely large, with two enormous sets of ram horns that curl back and downwards. Jaw is very thick and square with an outward pair of mock fangs that drop beyond the jaw, looking much like saber fangs. This hides the dual rows of fangs, but allows for easier tearing of dried carrion.
Eyes: large, but dark colors; they look solid during the day, but the small round pupil can be seen at night, strangely enough
Feet: very large, very wide and flat, with thick pads along the bottom and sharp claws. Sturdy and highly flexible
Wings: Dual set of enormous broad wings. The outer side matches the color and pattern of the body, while the inside is a vibrant nebula of color. Drakes are born without wings at all and one set grows when they reach puberty, around 11 or 12 years of age. The second pair grows when they reach adulthood around 25 or 26 years. Adolescents can fly with only a single pair of wings, but is more difficult, though they learn the basics. Still mostly grounded, however, until the second pair grows.
Tail: stretches the same length as the body, is relatively thick. Tail splits in two near the end with a thick layer of skin stretching between it. This allows for greater maneuverability in the air.

Abilities:
:bulletgreen: Emeralds often groom themselves when nervous or shy, 'petting' the inside of their wings as its an extreme sensitive spot.
:bulletgreen: They love to fly; due to the four wings moving much like a dragonfly, they can easily hover in place, though the air picked up by their wings can be quite large.
:bulletgreen: Their heavy bodies are difficult to move by one not an Emerald, so a groggy Emerald is often a stationary one. They really like drinking, however, and find it the height of amusement to attempt to fly. Their skulls are extremely thick, however, especially with the horns protecting them, so them running into things doesn't bother them as much.
That says nothing about what or who they ran into, however.

General Personality: Extremely cheerful and overly friendly at times. No such thing as personal space to an Emerald.
Disciplines: professions tend to fluctuate as Emeralds rarely will stick to one project for long. They do, however, come back and pick it up later, move to something else, and return, until project is finished or some other Emerald finishes it.

Restrictions: closed breed

Breeding:

Emerald females are incapable of moving while the egg grows within them, forcing the male partner to hunt for them and protect them against predators. Emeralds lay a single every few years. The eggs are enormous compared to the mother, being nearly the same size as her chest cavity. Once its laid, the female goes off to hunt, leaving the male with the sole responsibility of incubating the egg. They breath fire across the surface to keep the egg warm. The egg is within the mother's womb for 13 months, but the egg incubates for another year before it begins to hatch.

Hatchlings start off a pale colorless gray, but within the first year or so, the color begins to come through as they shed the baby down and new feathers grow in. By this time, the mother returns, reuniting the family and both parents raise the child together.

Society: Emerald Dragons live in small communities, but these same communities are constantly changing. They believe everyone is a brother or sister and treat those they meet like long-lost family. Extremely bright and have no clear personal space, Emeralds often get on other dragons nerves with their attentions. They have no personal belongings and do not understand the concept of ownership either, so thievery is foreign to them. As such, they will often pick up things belonging to someone else and use them.

Their homes look like rickety structures spanning across chasms, but in reality, they are extremely sturdy, easily capable of withstanding the sometimes blasting wind billowing through the canyons. Many homes are built further down, along the canyon walls as well, providing a literal spiderweb of bridges, paths and homes that seem chaotic to anyone not native to the city.

Though Emeralds are carrion eaters, they are also listed as cannibals, calmly consuming their own kind should one die. They believe in reincarnation and as venerate the current life and nature around them as much as possible, giving thanks to nature in a lot of ways. An Emerald will protect a tiny sparrow nest from the wind, sheltering the birds in their own home. Consuming any sort of meat, they give thanks to the one who died to aid them in this life. It is considered an honor go give one's life for another Emerald, to providing food for their families.

To an Emerald, a dead body is a dead body. The spirit is no longer there and has long since left, thus the carcass is edible
Natural Enemies: hyenas, wraithwings, hominids of some areas
