Standard

Build: Tiny, on average, the size of a newborn kitten or a rat, dreamcats nevertheless are fully grown. No one knows how they are born or where they come from. Each one has a passive element attached to them, though it's unsure whether they can control it or not. It's a very small version of said element (example: a green cat may be an earthcat, but it would only be able to control vines, not dirt, any other plants, trees, rock or minerals.)
Generally domestic cat shape, but can have uncommon wildcat bodies, such as cheetah, tiger or lion

Pelt: furry, some have long fur, others have short fur, circikats have scales | patterns can be just about anything relating to their personal subtype. or not

Head: large for their bodies, making them look much like kittens, tiny faces

Eyes: large, expressive, highly intelligent

Feet: fat balls of fluff; tiny, but sharp kitten claws

Tail: varies between types; some have no tails at all, while others have really long ones

Conformation: mouse-sized cats, perfect for your pocket... or top of the head

First Impressions: "Holy Sh'nuts! That's a tiny cat!"

Disposition: Dreamcats love to prowl through their owners dreams, hence their name. Some influence dreams, while others simply watch. They are very expressive, loving and attention-grabbing. They love to stay in permanent litters with several other dreamcats, so it's best to have 4 or 5 at a time. They love to sit on their owners shoulders (though they squabble constantly on who gets to sit there), and with their small size, can fit just about anywhere. They can talk, though often feel no need. They enjoy 'acting' like little cats.

Each type has their own personality and, as mentioned above, an sub-element. Their type does not reflect their personality. Devil cats are not always evil, nor are Death cats. It is simply a part of their sub-element. All dreamcats have telepathy/mind speech.

Notes:

Terrakats - Short fur, extremely thick and rough to the touch with very short tails. Earthcats are extremely calm and collected, though tend to be more exacting and precise. While not the biggest, they do tend to be more nurturing and kind.

Abilities of Terrakats include dirt clods, tiny dust clouds enough to make one sneeze and rocks underfoot. Small terramantic tricks unless the kat is VERY old.

Imbrikats - short, glossy, silky fur, highly water resistant. Watercats are the heaviest of the dreamcats. Their build is relatively thick, but extremely sleek. Highly vain and tend to show off the most.

Abilities of Imbrikats include water bubbles, underwater breathing, unclogging drains and making a single person have their own rain cloud.

Pyrokats - Very rough fur, often crinkly feeling, static. Firecats are the more volatile of dreamcats, extremely temperamental and egotistical. They will are the most aloof and anti-social, but are also the most passionate and loving.

Abilities include small flames, such as candles, though most can light themselves on fire to produce light for their companions - making other things burn or not.

Circikats - Windcats do not have fur, they have scales. Their claws are much longer than the others as well, enabling them to latch onto just about anything. Windcats are the most lightweight and the largest.

Abilities include floating, making small things (their weight) float or telekinesis (moving things with a twitch of a whisker)

Necrokats - Highly volatile and pessamistic, deathcats nevertheless are extremely kind and caring to those they trust. Takes a lot to get a deathcat to trust you, however. The smallest of dreamcats, their fur is thin, but glossy, showing off their tiny frames.

Vitakats - They may look like patchwork stuffed animals, but they are living. Their bodies are collapsable, giving more to the myth that they are living plush dolls, not kats. Lifecats have no tails, but a small floating ankh that waves gently when they're happy. Despite being living, they do still have stitching that can come undone on occasion (instead of fur 'coat'). Vitakats require the most maintenance due to this. Generally caring, but sarcastic, lifecats have an enormous bundle of energy and are rarely still, even when dozing.

Abilities include giving life to small things such as flowers or rodents, healing minor wounds and attracting help.

Atrakats - Darkcats are the more mischievous of the dreamcats. They love to play pranks on just about anyone, but especially their owners. They crave attention more than the other dreamcats, though are fairly low maintenance, despite that. Their fur is long and soft, with a smokey under-color near the base of the hairs, giving darkcats an iridescent look to their fur.

Abilities include teleporting through shadows, creating shadow 'puppets' that can hold things for a short while.

Lumikats - The most honest of cats, lightcats will always try to help others. Even when/if there are those that do not want/need help. Lightcats are very controlling and are often the leaders of any litter. They are very haughty, though not cruel. Their fur is extremely soft, long and curly, requiring a slightly higher level of care, which they demand as their due.

Breeding:

No one really knows how dreamcats breed, though it still requires both genders to be present. Type doesn't matter, as the eggs can result in any of the eight types, including those not either parent. Colors are generally mixed, however, as well as pattern.

A female, or pyrra, will produce anywhere from 1-9 eggs every few years and guard them against anyone, including the male, called pyrr, and any elves she is attached to. Even normally calm dreamcats will become waspish during this time, clawing at anything nearby as their hormones return to normal. This usually is enough to drive the sire away, leaving the pyrra to hatch the egg herself.

Eggs are barely the size of their paws, however, and extremely soft the first few hours. The shell hardens after that, forming a glossy coating. Pyrra have a special pouch along their stomach that they carry the egg with them, keeping it warm and protected from danger and weather. It is extremely rare to find a dreamcat egg without the pyrra. A dreamcat will NEVER leave her egg by itself, or the pyrkit after its born.

Kittens, called pyrkits, are blind for a month after birth. When they open their eyes they learn to move, instinctively knowing how to walk through dreams and teleport in the real world. Pyrkits cannot, however effect dreams until they reach adulthood, at 50 years of age.
