Romales tend to live slightly shorter lifespans than the other two genders. The reason for this is unknown.

Head: large, very canine with a pair of short protruding fangs. Romales two pairs of fangs
Antlers: Dagaru do not grow antlers until they reach nearly 50 years of age. Romale antlers are smaller than Stags. Both lose their antlers in the winter months unless the herd is sufficiently close enough to the equator for the temperature to remain constant. Dams have only stubs for antlers that do not shed.

Eyes: small, but sharply slited. Widens at dawn and dusk, their preferred time to be out.

Feet: small, almost dainty paws for their body size. Non-retractable claws enable them to dig into the earth for better traction and agility.

Tail: short and fluffy along the bottom, just like their neck

Temperament: While dagaru are cheerful creatures, wild ones are extremely wary of strangers, and will often hide rather than confront other creatures encroaching on their territory. Dagaru can be quite caring and friendly. Much like donkeys, however, they know when to stop or when a burden is too heavy. They know how to find water and can travel for miles.

Abilities:

Dagaru cannot run for long distances, but are fast sprinters, and can reach speeds up to 50 mph.

Domesticated dagaru are very sturdy and reliable mounts, though the riders have to learn to avoid the branching antlers. As a result, does make the best riding mounts. Dams are slower, and thicker built and generally not very energetic.

Defense: They protect themselves with their claws, though the antlers are used as a shield or to shove their opponent off balance. The smaller antlers of a romale does not hinder that ability at all.

Breeding:
Dagaru have three genders, just like other species found on Jarri. Stags are the sperm carriers. To reproduce, they will top a doe, who are the egg carriers, then the doe is responsible for topping a dam within the next few hours or the sperm will die. Stags topping Dams will do nothing unless a Doe then tops the same Dam within the next few hours. Dams are the ones who carry the litter of pups.
